There has been a lot of publicity in recent years regarding nurseries and the quality of care they provide. For this reason we have installed secure-access webcams to show parents how dedicated we are to providing the best quality childcare. We are the first nursery in Suffolk to do this. Parents are able to log on via a secure website to see how their children are enjoying their day. We find this particularly helpful when children are settling in, to show parents how quickly a child feels at ease after their parents leave the room.

We believe our webcams send a positive signal to parents that we have full confidence in our staff and are happy to be watched in our work looking after their children. Security is also ensured. Parents are only allowed to log on to the room in which their child is playing and only for the time that their child attends. Security steps including passwords and encryption technology ensure that the system is not open to abuse. The system also provided CCTV so if there is an incident during the day, the parent will be able to see exactly what happened.

All staff who come to work for Rendlesham Day Nursery are told about the webcams and are happy with the system we use. We only employ people who have enough confidence in their own ability and dedication to the job to be happy to be watched by parents while they work.




Charity:

We are keen for the children at the nursery to get involved in some form of sponsorship with children in another country. This will apply to the older children rather than babies and toddlers. This is an area that we are currently looking into but the idea is for the children as a group to be in touch with children from another village in Africa, for example, and for them to exchange pictures that they make for each other.
